This year was a fantastic year for me both professionally and personally. My boys Matthew and Jacob are doing really well and they are getting so big so fast, they will be five years old on January 2! It's by far the most fun I've had with them, I can't imagine it getting any better. My beach portrait photography has gone to the next level this summer and I was booked almost the whole summer! I am getting back to blogging because a bunch of my clients have mentioned to me that I've stopped. I haven't been blogging about my family like I did in years past, however I wanted to post a couple of snap shots of my boys Matthew and Jacob. They turned four years old on January 2nd and it's by far the most enjoyable age for being a parent thus far. They really are so much fun, everyday they experience something new and I am grateful that Gina and I are able to witness more often then not. They are now in preschool, they go five days a week for three hours a day and they love it. As some of you may know, they were born 10 weeks early weighing just 2.6 lbs and 3.2lbs and we never imagined during the scary times in the NICU that they would be thriving as much as they are. I truly am a lucky man!

My Handsome Boys!

Gina and I call Jacob our little boy because he is just that. He acts his age and just worries about little boy things.

Matthew (below) on the other hand is at time an intense little boy. He remind me of myself, the good and the bad. (lol)

I am sure every parent says this but Matthew is a true natural in front of the camera, whatever look he give me it's a money shot.

Jacob (below) isn't as natural in front of the camera, but nevertheless he always looks sweet!

I photographed this session right before Christmas. It was a multi-generation portrait session but the image below is one fro Jewels and Alex individual family. They have twin toddlers like Gina and I, so I am sure we have a lot in common. I also photographed their wedding about 5 years ago and it truly seems like yesterday! Not all my portrait session go smooth, but with cooperation from the parents (just deal with it attitude it's fine) something special is always created, even if isn't what they visioned. What I've Been up to!

I haven't had much of a chance to blog this summer mostly because I've been busy at the beaches of the New Jersey Shore taking portraits of some great families from New Jersey and all over the country. I am always fascinated how far people come to get to our ocean when so many of us Jersey Folks take it for granted. The beaches in New Jersey really are amazing, and there are so many options depending upon what you are looking for. The biggest difference with taking Beach Portraits compared to my portraits I take at arboretums and parks is that with the beach portraits it's mostly a multi generation portrait session; usually family groups of 10 to 30. I haven't had a chance to count how many beach sessions I did this year, but it was a lot, and every single session was a success! My Boys are in Preschool!!!!!

I can't believe my little men are in preschool. They are even taking a bus and they seem to like it. They are 3 years old and the buses these days have car seats in them. Take a look at Matt and Jake on the bus for the first time! They really did great their first day, Gina and I were a little worried since they never were in anytime of daycare.

A few weeks back I had the pleasure to photograph the Doctors at the Brunswick Hills OBGYN in East Brunswick, NJ. I know first hand that these Doctors are truly wonderful people. As many of you may know my sons Matthew and Jacob were born 10 weeks early at 2.6 pounds and 3.2 pounds, and I am happy that we had this group on our team. It was a rough time for Gina and I and I have to say it was the smoothest part (and scariest) was when the decision was made delivering our boys 10 weeks early. We had the privilege of Dr. Karanikolas (aka...Greek God) deliver our boys and I have never seen so much professionalism in my life. First he came to me minutes before delivery, put his big hand on my shoulder and said in his sweet voice, "everything is going to go fine." It was the first time (Gina was on bed rest 50 days before and she almost had to give birth at 24 weeks but we decided against it) that anybody said anything to us with any type of confidence. I have to say, it's what I needed to hear and all of a sudden I wasn't scared anymore. During the delivery we heard two things..."Baby A is out.......Baby B is out". It was an amazing experience. Take a look at some of the portraits that were taken at St. Peter's Hospital, in New Brunswick.Dr. K....he's the man!

jThis is just part of my display at the Brunswick Hills OBGYN. I haven't posted many picture of my twins Matthew (baby A) and Jacob (baby B) recently and figured this was a good time.

The Brooklyn Bridge

A couple of nights ago my Nephew Joe and I went to the Brooklyn Bridge to get a nice picture for his apartment in Syracuse where he is going to Law School. This is the picture we came up with, I think it looks pretty good!

After the photo shoot we went to this place in Brooklyn. It's amazing...they fry everything. We ate...and ate...and ate. We started off with fried sausage, fried shrimp, fried macaroni, fried pizza (unreal), fried chicken fingers, fried hamburger. Then for desert we had fried cherry pie, fired Reese's Pieces, fried Twinkies. And of course a Stout or three!

I know I post a lot of family portraits on my blog and people often ask me if I do weddings. Although I am not a wedding factory that does 40, 50, or 100 a year, I do photograph about 10 weddings a year and I enjoy doing them. I think it's because I never had to do so many that I got burnt out. I still get excited before each wedding and I am always looking how to improve on what I do. The wedding on Friday I added a little different style to my work. TLC was also there taping parts of the wedding for an upcoming show. This evening I took some beach portraits of my twin boys Matthew and Jacob. I think most photographers would agree, photographing your own kids is typically a difficult challenge. I photographed them at Monmouth Beach. The beach got a lot shorter since last year, I hope it's because it was high tides and not more beach erosion. Bad to the Bone!

Grandma Georgie and Pa Pa Joe bought bikes for the boys right before the week long of rain and today we finally got out for a little bit to get them a feel for the bike! They are only two years old so they didn't get the concept too much, they expected to be pushed around! I think I will wait for Gina so we can tag team them until they get the concept. The tough thing about toddlers is that, often any fun thing you do with them ends up in a nightmare because they don't want to stop. Here is a picture of the boys on their bikes!

A Beautiful Flag.

It's been a while since I pulled over to take a few pictures of something that I thought was worth whiled. The other days after my portrait session at the Reeves Reed arboretum in Summit, NJ I pass this HUGE flag that I've seen maybe 1000's of times. It was very windy and the flag really looked beautiful. Anybody from the Berkeley Heights, NJ will recognize this flag without a doubt, it's almost like the trademark of Berkeley Heights. Check out the flag!

Easter Bunny Picture

Today we went to see the Easter Bunny and well I guess you can say the picture speaks for itself.

Not to sound weird, but this was indeed the best Easter Bunny ever! Matt (on our left) loved him and he kept picking him up and Matt was kissing him or her and petting. It was very cute. Jacob wasn't so interested, when we were online he kept pointing at the Bunny saying UH OOOOOH UH OOOOOH UH OOOOH UH OOOOH!

My lap top went a little crazy (deadly blue screen) but everything was backed up! So I haven't been blogging as much as I would like. I figure I would post a little variety. Here are some family and pet portraits that I took all around NJ. As many of you know I photograph families from Bergen County to Cape May. The best part is that you never have to come to me! This dog was only a few months old. I photographed him at his home in Bergen County, NJ. The "stuff" by his eye is a trademark for this type of dog, that is why it wasn't taken out. Along with being a family portrait photographer, being a pet photographer is both challenging and fun. I photographed this family at the Deep Cut Gardens in Holmdel, NJ. It's a beautiful place. It's located near 114 of the GSP in Monmouth County. I like to have a little fun with my family portraits! The above family portrait was taken in Morris County last November. It was a bit cold but everybody held their own. We didn't spend too much time outside since we did most of the portraits inside their home. Here is a family portrait that I took in Mendham, NJ. I always suggest to add the family's pet into the photograph. Mendham is one of the most beautiful towns in New Jersey. I always enjoy driving there when I often do my portraits at the Cross Estates. Winding roads, beautiful properties, and nice people.

I photographed this family's portrait at their home in Summit, NJ. It was such a beautiful piece of property, you felt isolated even though the other homes were not that far away. We did a lot of different combinations of portraits and the below portrait is one that just kind of came together and we all really liked it. It was drizzling off and on during this portrait session but you can't even notice! Good thing they were wearing black, I didn't have to retouch any rain drops off their shirts! Below is a family portrait that I took in Long Beach Island. This particular day was probably the nicest evening all of last summer. The best time to do beach portraits in NJ is usually about 75 minutes before sunset. You will get what is called the "sweet" light as you will see below. A little fun in the Snow

We all went out in the snow for a little bit and the boys liked it. Thirty minutes to get them all bundled up, twenty minutes in the snow, forty-five minutes of crying because they want to go back outside even though their boogers are frozen to their face. That's about the same formula most parents probably go through with two year olds in the snow. Check out the pictures, it's a rarity to get my two guys laughing in the same picture. There is always a special feeling when I see my kids laugh like this. Not a worry in the world, not one!

Urban Portraiture (New Jersey and New York Child Photographer)

Between the fast cameras and the ability to manipulate the images in Photoshop has open up other styles of portrait photography. One of the most recent styles is Urban Portraits, some people call it lifestyle portraiture even though that has been around forever. The below pictures are example of what I feel to be Urban Portraiture. I wonder how much of a market is out there for this type of photography. I watched some tutorials and browsed through some web sites of other photographers and figure I would give it a shot. Check out the two pictures below, one is of Matthew and the other Jacob. There is a lot of post processing in Photoshop with these, about 30 minutes each just to get the effect that doesn't include the other retouching. Take a look and put a comment to tell me what you think. Sometimes I feel people like different styles but it just isn't for them.

I am just checking in to share some portraits that I took through out the years. I've been busier then usual for this time of year so I haven't been blogging as much as I would like. It's been interesting, my web site and blog has been getting hits from all over the world...including Iraq! Although I much rather get viewers locally I think it's pretty cool. I have some great portraits I took a couple of weeks ago but I want to show my client the finish product before posting them. Hopefully soon! Photographing infants is so much fun.This is one of my favorite couple picture, it wasn't technically a engagement session but the did get married a few weeks later. They were part of a big group I photographed in Long Beach Island LBI last April. It was my first beach portrait session of the year! This was a wedding I photographed for good friend of Gina and I of Mike and Linda. This portrait was taken at the Manor in West Orange, NJ.I did this wedding just last year of Jenna and Jason, Princeton University is one of the most beautiful places for both family and wedding portraits.

Beautiful Twins (New Jersey and New York Baby Portrait Photographer)

One of my favorite types of portrait photography is photographing babies. These two babies are 4 and 5 lbs which is a perfect size to get some great images. I always suggest the parents to be in the photographs when there are under 3 months. It's also a great time to have your portraits printed in black and white and framed with white mats and black frames. These taken right in the comfort of their home. Below is one of my favorite images, make sure you check out the slide show right below this family portrait.

They also have twins that are 8 years old and a child right in the middle. I photographed the three of them today.

Matt and Jake's First Time in the Snow

Matt and Jake played in the snow for the first time yesterday. We didn't make it out until it got dark so we played in the street for a little while. You will see in a lot of the pictures Jake has the string from his balloon in his mouth, he was afraid it would get away and he couldn't hold it with his hands since he had gloves on so he held it with his mouth. I just got back from having a couple of drinks and some food with my old neighbor and friend Hank. I haven't seen him in almost 20 years and it was great to catch up. I joined Facebook not too long ago and have connected with a lot of people that I lost contact with over the years. It was great catching up and talking about the OLD days and how our kids don't have as much fun as we did because the world is much different. We had a lot of fun growing up and got into plenty of trouble but most of the time we never got caught! Below is a picture of Hank and I at Houlaghans in New Brunswick. It's great to see that he's doing well.

Hank is not short by no means but he was standing on his tippy toes! lol.
